Co-op's Giving Back!
October 8, 2025

Twin Valley Co-op, in partnership with Federated Co-operatives Limited, is pleased to announce the Miniota Community Centre as a recipient of $30,000 through Co-op Community Spaces. This funding will assist with the installation of the new artificial ice plant.

“We are excited to contribute to such a long-lasting project in the community, that will help grow memories for generations to come.” said Dwayne Moncur, General Manager for Twin Valley Co-op. “It is fantastic to see the community and surrounding area come together like this, and for their fundraising efforts be rewarded.”

The Miniota Community Centre, run by a board of 11 volunteers, has raised money and sought funding to date of approximately $980,000 and nearing their goal of $1.5 million. The three-phase project that began in 2024 included upgrades to the canteen and ball diamonds in Phase 1 and an artificial ice plant, flooring system and concrete floor for the rink in Phase 2. Phase 3, once fundraising goals are reached, will include the addition of dressing rooms, washrooms and a Zamboni room.

“Co-op was built to serve, grow and invest in Western Canada communities, both rural and urban. As a local Co-op, we are honored to be able to support such a valued initiative. Projects like this help ensure the long-term viability of our rural towns. The community centre will be a great asset for many years.”

The work for phase one began in 2024 and has carried on throughout 2025. The team plans to continue the infield work and dugouts in 2026. Phase two was initiated in May of this year, with the milestone concrete pour occurring on September 8, 2025. The ice plant arrived on October 6 with connection and commissioning expected to take up to four weeks. The Board is hopeful of having ice within the coming months.
