Description:

Twin Valley Co-op is hiring a HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER who will be responsible for management of the safety management systems including site inspections, incident investigations, hazard identifications, policies, procedures, manuals, emergency response plans and updates to the SMS.

What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Controller, the successful applicant will be self-motivated, ambitious, and energetic and be involved in all aspects of safety within team operations.

  • Provide strong leadership and support to all WSH committees and representatives.
  • Lead the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of applicable safety management systems, facilitating safety initiatives for all team members.
  • Ensure appropriate safety protocols are developed, maintained, observed, and followed for the applicable business unit (s).
  • Identify the safety training needs for all team members and work with the resource safety team.
  • Schedule the required safety training for team members.
  • Provide expertise and support in analyzing all workplace incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Ensure the required documentation for safety related occurrences is prepared and submitted within the allotted timelines to applicable internal and external stakeholders.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career as a Safety Professional and possess:

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and facilitation experience.
  • Prefer 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety Position in a retail environment but are willing to train the right individual.
  • A certificate, diploma or designation in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamwork.
